How can I convey 500 meters (547 yards) to you? Driving on the freeway, it will take me about 20 seconds to cover 547 yards. An average person will take over 6 minutes to briskly walk that distance. The silhouette ram target's body is about a foot tall and two feet wide, weighing 60 pounds, and must not only be hit, but must fall completely off its stand to be counted. Even if I were standing smack dab in front of it, I would have to HEAVE a brick... OVERHAND... with a hurricane tailwind behind me, to accomplish that. Can you imagine the terminal velocity required to knock that chunk of metal off its stand?

Message from the President -- Range First Aid

Hopefully no one will ever suffer a medical emergency at the range. However, accidents do happen. Recently Shooting Illustrated ran and article on Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) [http://www.shootingillustrated.com/index.php/12333/individual-first-aid-kits]. IFAKs have become popular, but what is the minimum you need? Shooting Illustrated talked to several experts and they all recom- mend that a shooter have a minimum of three items in their personal first aid kit. I would add a fourth item. The Exquisite Colt Python

The Colt Python is a double action, large I-frame handgun chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge originally developed by Smith & Wesson. In fact, the only true ".357 Magnum" is the original one developed by Smith & Wesson in the 1930s. All others were "chambered for .357" but the fact is that ".357 Magnum" is an S&W trade name and not just a caliber designation. There are no true ".357 Magnums" other than those produced by Smith & Wesson on their large "N" frame. This is why Colt Pythons have a "CTG" (cartridge) after the caliber stamp on all their barrels.

Product Review - Risers

The company is called The Leatherman (http://www.accu-riser.com/) He makes them (cost about $35) in both black and simulated walnut, as well as a really well thought out riser for a M4 (.223 collapsible stock). But the one for the M4 is designed specifically for the original Colt stock and works on many, but not mine. The Walnut stock worked extremely well on my Marauder. It comes with two different replaceable height combs and screws (if you want to mount it permanently) and leave off the Velcro strap that comes with it as well as some double sided sticky tape to hold it in place. All in all I am very happy. When I called him about the .223 riser not working he apologized and said to ship it back for a refund. I sent it back, but with an order for another of the walnut risers for my .22 I scoped and needed to raise the cheek piece.
